CBD and physical health

What is CBD?

I know that I go over this at the beginning of every post, but it's helpful if you're a newcomer to Cannabiz with Liz! Cannabidiol (CBD) is a therapeutic cannabinoid present in the hemp and marijuana plants along with over 100 other cannabinoids. We all have an endocannabinoid system; this system creates endocannabinoids and maintains homeostasis (or balance) within our bodies. We also have cannabinoid receptors all throughout our bodies, in our central nervous system, digestive system, on our skin, and more which is why CBD works so well with our bodies. The CBD that we use here in Pennsylvania is hemp derived, meaning that it is extracted from the hemp plant and that a full spectrum product will have 0.3% or less THC present. However, there are THC free products available in a broad-spectrum formulation that are just as beneficial.

How can CBD help me physically?

CBD is shown to have strong anti-inflammatory properties. Inflammation is the root of a lot of our physical ailments and we don’t even realize it. Some of those being headaches, joint pain, fatigue, skin conditions, and more. By reducing overall inflammation, you’re allowing your body to run at optimum strength and speed, and that’s one of the many things CBD can help with. CBD can also aid in muscle recovery by reducing inflammation and can potentially lessen soreness by preventing muscles from tearing to begin with. Using a tincture before working out and a topical cream afterwards is a great way to incorporate CBD into your fitness routine! Adding CBD to your daily regimen can also help improve your quality of sleep which plays a very important role in maintaining good physical health.

What about nutrition?

CBD can play an important role in our body’s nutrition too! Studies have shown that CBD can lower “bad cholesterol” numbers and increase “good cholesterol” numbers. CBD has also been shown to reduce the risk of heart disease by slowing the progression of atherosclerosis (a disease of the arteries). CBD can aid in overall well-being which can help with many other conditions as well, some of those being weight loss, bone disease, and even a reduced risk of cancer!

The Takeaway

When using CBD we are helping aid the endocannabinoid system to work to the best of its ability, which is why CBD can be very beneficial when it comes to our physical health. On top of better sleep quality, you may also notice less inflammation, therefore experience less pain and relief from other issues (headaches, leaky gut, anxiety, etc.) Overall CBD can benefit physical health, it can aid in nutrition, and it can possibly be the missing puzzle piece to your overall health and wellness!
